Hello my name is Claudia Nelson. There aren't enough words to express my gratitude
for your brave service to our country. I never got to thank my uncle Robert Lastraps
who was a flight engineer in WWII, so thank you, from all our family. God bless

Thank You for with all of our Love from our heart for unselfish acts.

May God Bless You!

THANK YOU VETERANS, FOR THE FREEDOMS WE HAVE...
IF IT WASN'T FOR YOU, WE WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO DO THE THINGS WE CAN DO...SUCH AS PRAY IN A RESTAURANT, OR OTHER PLACES, OR ATTEND CHURCH OPENLY, OR READ CERTAIN BOOKS IN PUBLIC PLACES.
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR OUR FREEDOM...
PLEASE TAKE CARE & MAY GOD BLESS YOU AND KEEP YOU SAFE.
Sincerely,
Donna Lee

P.S. My Husband is a Vietnam Era (Army) and Desert Shield (Air Force Reserve) Veteran and My Father was a WWII Marine Veteran who served in the USS Pensacola...and SAW the original Iwo Jima Flag raised from the ship...
He received a few minor injuries, Broken Toe when a hatch fell on his foot and also Lost Hearing in 1 ear due to the big guns he was using on the ship. but never got a purple heart due to him not wanting his parents to worry.
So I really understand how important the veterans are.

I am writing this  note to thank you for making my way of life as safe and happy as it is. Because of the many ways you’ve sacrificed for all of us who live in this country, I am able to live the life I would wish for others.

My family has always had someone in the military; all branches have been represented. All members of my family who have served have come home to be with us and I know just how lucky we are with regard to that. I know families who have lost loved ones in wars though, it’s the ultimate sacrifice and it hurts forever. The pride we all feel, whether we’ve lost or whether our families are still intact is the same.

Many times I have wanted to thank military members I’ve come in contact with, flying on the same plane, disembarking from a train, anywhere. I have not been able to do it. I choke up. Tears come to my eyes and I just can’t. I can’t explain it any other way than that. And so I will take this time to thank you all this way.

I’ve heard many times that those who’ve lost their lives have given ‘the ultimate sacrifice’. I’m sure that’s true, but I also believe that those of you who have lost limbs, who are disabled, who suffer the many horrors of wars gone by on a daily basis also have given ‘the ultimate sacrifice’. And you continue to do so. My heart wishes to extend strength to you to bear what you bear.

I know that it’s because of your strength, your willingness to fight in battles to liberate an oppressed people, your ability to be a force for our government that I can wake up each morning and watch birds while I drink my second cup of coffee, I can drive any car I like on my way to whatever job I enjoy doing. I can go into any grocery store and the produce is there at prices I don’t mind paying. These small bits of my life are not repressed, they are not governed by a force that I must submit to, they are not regulated as to how much I can have or when I can have it. When I decide to go out to dinner,  I can do that because someone fought for my right to do it. When I take my children to a movie it’s because someone long ago made this country free enough for me to do that. All the lovely freedoms we have,  all the decisions we are able to make, all the times we can yell that we don’t agree with our governing body on what they feel we should be doing or not doing…all that is protected by you. By those of you who have put yourselves in harms way to make sure I don’t suffer, to make sure I can do these things.. To provide my family and every family the freedoms that come with our lives.

Thank you from deep within my heart.

Ultimate Freedom

Blessings to all of you who have served our country well and are now recooperating in hospitals.  My Father was a Veteran of WWII who landed on Omaha Beach on D-Day, was shot in the hedge rows of France, was missing in action, and almost died from his wounds.  He too spent much time in hospitals before being transported back to the United States after the end of WWII.  He lost two fingers while in Europe and came home unable to walk.  After two years home in the United States and additional hospitalizations, he regained the use of his legs, walked, and although he left the Army with 100% disability, he was finally determined 80% disabled and held down a full-time job at what is now Sun Oil Company and retired from Sun after 40+ years of service.  He led a very active, productive life until his death at the age of 80. For those of you who are healing, who are missing limbs, who feel hopeless, please know that God is greater than all our needs. He is the Great Physician who can and does do miraculous things in the lives of His children as He did for my Father.  Also know there are people in our country, like me, who understand the sacrifices that are made by those serving our country and who thank you with a grateful heart.

WIth Appreciation and Best Wishes for your recovery,
Sandra Hayes, the daughter of a WWII Purple Heart recipient and Veteran
Tulsa, Oklahoma

With my husband (Navy), father-in-law (Air Force), and mother-in-law (Air Force) all being in the military, I want to thank them and every veteran that has served to protect our country and the many freedoms that we enjoy because of their sacrifices.  We are so fortunate to live in a country with so many freedoms!!  Without the ultimate sacrifice of our veterans and their families, our country would not be the same.  Thank you veterans for keeping us safe and protected.
