HOW YOU CAN HELP

Pulling your coupons out before you recycle your Sunday newspaper and donating them.

Providing items that can be used at the VA hospital or for food baskets.

Offering a discount for Veterans from your place of business......

Oklahoma American Veterans News always has several projects going on.

EXPIRED COUPON PROJECT  a new project for Oklahoma American Veterans News that
has evolved as people send their current coupons asking that we use them to stretch
what we do for our Veterans....Read more

FRUIT- After fasting all night before having tests run at the VA outreach clinic,
many Veterans need a little something to help with the weakness. Monetary donations
allow us to purchase fruit at wholesale prices, to ensure that each donation is stretched,
as far as possible.

DISCOUNTS FOR VETERANS- Providing a Veterans discount can mean new customers,
for a business, by those
who might not have heard of and/or visited your business
before.  (More info at the bottom of this page.)

HOSPITALIZED VETERANS Some veterans enter the hospital with nothing-- not even a
toothbrush. Others are there for so long the items
that they brought with them, such as
shaving cream or deodorant run out.
  Needed items

You are welcome to use Paypal and have volunteers purchase needed items. We do
watch the sales and use coupons to purchase so that we don't waste any donation.

See some of the ways we have been able to use non-expired coupons to help others.

WHERE YOUR DONATION GOES:

Your financial support helps with veterans needs throughout the year,
as well as the "Christmas For the Kids" program, for local less fortunate
children. For more than twenty years, this program has been helping kids
with such things as toys and clothes.

OAVN STRETCHES EVERY DOLLAR YOU DONATE

In the fall of 2009, OAVN made the decision to contact past donors by mail,
saving on phone and office expenses.
However, the numerous requests for help that we are receiving has made it necessary that we use the phone to alert donors of this ever increasing need.

No money is paid in salaries. OAVN volunteers have a sincere desire to
help our Veterans.

BUSINESSES HONORING VETERANS

Veterans appreciate discounts but even more, they value the support shown
by businesses in providing a "Veteran's Discount."

Offering a Veterans discount can mean new customers who might not
have visited your
business before end up as repeat customers.

Advertising in traditional ways, in order to reach Veterans with a discount, can
be expensive. Door flyers can be a waste of both time and your advertising dollar
when there is no way of knowing if anyone living in the home is a Veteran.

In the past, businesses might advertise by offering a discount in a coupon book.
In these changing economic times, it can be harder for people to come up with
money to purchase a book, in order to receive the discount.

During SALUTE TO HOSPITALIZED VETERANS WEEK, OAVN volunteers
gave out discount coupons provided by sponsors.
Several of the businesses have
told us they were pleased at the business generated, from the distribution of those
discount coupons and refer to it as a
grassroots approach!
